Renovations to Gallery Entrance
Dear South Peace Art Society Members,
I write with some exciting news to share with you! This year, there will be some enhancements to the entrance of the Gallery. If you’ve been to the gallery over the last few years, you undoubtedly know that our entrance could benefit from some care and upgrades. After some long discussions, we’re happy to provide the following update:
Here is what you can expect:
- Access through Existing Entrance (Late Winter 2024): City contractors will start setting up materials in the NAR Parking lot and will start removing some of the existing roofing and siding atop the porch around our entrance. During this time, a separate entrance will be set up on the east side of the gallery. We’ll still be open though.
- New Entrance Access (Early Summer / Summer 2024): In early spring, contractors will remove the roofing and deck on the east side of our porch. Temporary access will be established during this time, and access will be shuffled if there are any busy days in a particular spot, but aside from a couple of days during the project, we’ll be open and happy to see you!
Once the south porch is rebuilt, the new front entrance will be added. Once the entrance is completed, the decking and finishing will be completed.
Special thanks to the Northern Development Initiative Trust and the City of Dawson Creek for their funding commitments on this project; thanks to the many city staff that have worked hard on this project so far; dk Architecture for their very cool design work; and we’re excited to work with Hegge Construction through the next few months to see a wonderful new entrance to the gallery.
With projects like these, changes can always come up. We’re going to keep you in the loop if/as things change. Stick close to our social media or become a member of the gallery to stay in the loop. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at the contact below.
We are absolutely fired up about this project and we hope you are too. We look forward to unveiling the refreshed entrance and creating an even more inspiring space for art in the South Peace!
Best Regards,
Duncan Malkinson

Here’s a really cool render of the project that dk Architecture did in late 2022. Keep in mind that this is a rendering: not the final product.
